Approve César Chávez Elementary 2018-2019 Single Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA), which has been approved by the submitting site's School Site Council.
|
Schools that receive state and federal categorical funding through the Consolidated Application process must annually develop a Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The purpose of the SPSA goals and actions are to “improve the academic performance of all students to the level of the performance goals.”
The Single Plan for Student Achievement involves a cycle of continuous development, implementation and monitoring. The following steps are completed at the site level in the development of a school plan: 1. Measure effectiveness of improvement strategies at the school; 2. Seek input from school advisory committee; 3. Reaffirm or revise school goals; 4. Revise improvement strategies and expenditures; 5. Recommend the approved Single Plan for Student Achievement to the governing board; and 6. Monitor the implementation of the plan. Once approved by the Board of Education, a copy of each school's SPSA will be available for review on the DJUSD website and in the Instructional Services Department at the District Office. The 2018-19 SPSA has been approved for implementation by the site's School Site Council.

Hear a report on DJUSD's 2018 spring testing results of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and the local indicators for DJUSD and Da Vinci Charter Academy.
|
Each spring DJUSD students in grades three through eight and eleven participate in the English Language Arts and Mathematics statewide assessments. In 2019 students in grades five, eight, and once in High School will also participate in the California Science Test (CAST). These tests make up the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and are part of the California Accountability and Assessment System. CAASPP results can be used to measure progress and focus on areas of improvement. While overall scores of students in DJUSD remain strong, the opportunity and achievement gap, as reflected on these tests, continues to persist. After a review of district data, staff will present an analysis of the results and a framework, including DJUSD's Graduate Profile, to guide the District towards its goals. Furthermore, DJUSD and Da Vinci Charter Academy have set local indicators that comply with state priorities. Annually, the DJUSD governing board will hear updates on progress against these priorities, which include the following: Basic Services, Implementation of State Academic Standards, Parent Engagement, School Climate, and Access to a Broad Course of Study.

Hear an update by DJUSD staff on planning for improved Career Tech Education (CTE) pathways.
|
DJUSD currently offers CTE programs at both the junior and senior high schools. This presentation will provide an update on initial planning to build upon existing programs and explore new fields for career pathways.
National Student Clearinghouse data on college persistence for DJUSD grads and high school student survey data suggest a need to review, and perhaps revise, programs that support career readiness. In addition to workforce readiness, CTE pathways also help advance District instructional goals and develop the skills that are outlined in DJUSD's Graduate Profile.
